COMMUNITY

I feel like community service has always played a huge part in my family. I was always raised to help and serve in the community. I was always there to help out someone who was less fortunate than me. I help out in my church, I love to help out in food pantries and soup kitchens, and even the little stuff. I help out at home and I love to volunteer for community service events at school. Even though I live in a place where you can tell right off the back that there is poverty, hunger, and homelessness, that doesn’t mean that there isn’t a wonderful sense of community. My community is so unique with all the different backgrounds and cultures. Since I have a very blessed life I feel inclined to help someone else out of a bad situation. In my mind, community service goes deeper than asking a person to sign a paper. It’s what you would do if you didn’t have to get a certain amount of credits or hours. Even though I do get my hours in, I also like to help people out just because. Volunteering is awesome because you don’t need to be paid to spread joy in the world. A famous quote states, “Volunteers aren’t paid, not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless.” When you help out someone in your community you are initially building it up. Albert Einstein once said, “Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.”

Even if you haven’t done anything to help, today is always the best time to start. Even telling somebody a genuine compliment can make their day. It’s the little things that make the biggest impact. First start off with something small, and then next thing you know you might be traveling the world bringing happiness to people who need it. A quote by Winston Churchill is, “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” Nobody is inclined to receive your amazing vibes. If a person doesn’t want to accept your giving that is perfectly fine too. “If you are giving your all to someone and that isn’t enough, than you’re giving to the wrong person.” Not everyone is going to feel the same way about helping as you and that is OK. All that matters is what YOU do to help out people.

In conclusion, I hope this writing piece shows you the values of community service and that helping the community helps our world little by little. A really good quote I found was, “Work for a cause and not for applause. Work to express not impress.”

Me, Myself, And Baking

Baking

I’m a huge fan of both eating and cooking baked treats. It is a very relaxing and soothing hobby to have. It’s always fun to experiment with different flavors and ingredients to create something truly magnificent or disastrous, but that makes it so much more fun and pleasurable. Trial and error is the best part of baking and that is the greatest way to learn. I have a passion for making cookies, pastries, cupcakes, cakes, and other baked goods. You have so much more pride in something when you know you made it from scratch. I love coming up with new recipes. Even if it is more difficult to cook something from scratch it really pays off more in the end. I feel like decorating is the most fun part though. Getting to practice with icings and fondants is just the most desirable part. I love seeing the smiles on people’s faces the moment they bite into my newest treat. Baking is such an enjoyable pastime. I’m pretty sure I’ve been baking before I could walk. My great-grandma really taught me the tips and tricks about the stove. I always adored baking because you really get to be so creative with everything.

When I was a little and even now, I have always wanted to be a baker or pastry chef along with a lot of other things. I hope that if I continue to work hard at accomplishing that goal, maybe someday I’ll get there. I want to have a bake sale in the near future where seventy-five percent of the proceeds would go to cancer research. I love to bake and it would be nice for me to do what I love along with helping others out of a bad situations. When I was little, I pretty much planned out the whole future of my life. I want to go to UCLA and study to be a baker and maybe start my own bakery in California called “Cupcakes for Life”. I have always seen myself being a baker and nothing else. Obviously the world wants me to be to be a baker.

In conclusion, baking is the best thing since sliced bread (no pun intended). I hope this inspires you to put your oven mitts on and really get creative. Don’t let the supermarket have all the fun. Go out and bake something!

Gymnastics… What’s It’s all about

Gymnastics… What’s It All About?

I really love gymnastics. It is a challenging sport that requires both physical and mental stamina. I have been doing gymnastics since I was six, and I have fallen in love with the sport. It requires strength, grace, flexibility, and dedication. Gymnastics is a sport where I have a constant need to be better and better. I always feel in my head “I could have done better on this, and why didn’t I do that?’’ Gymnastics is a sport where you have to be precise. Any move you make could potentially be a fatal one. If you think gymnastics isn’t a dangerous sport you are dead wrong, but that’s why I love it so much more. It feels so much better knowing that you just completed a death-defying skill. There are three types of major gymnastics. They are rhythmic gymnastics, artistic gymnastics, and acrobatic gymnastics. Some of the minor types are power tumbling and trampoline. All though they aren’t too major, they still require the same amount of skill and dedication.

Artistic Gymnastics

I do artistic gymnastics, and believe me when I say it is hard. Artistic gymnastics is the most well-known. There are four possible apparatuses to compete on if you are female, and six possible apparatuses if you are male. Which include vault, floor, balance beam, and the uneven bars, if you’re female. Though if you’re male your events are rings, floor, pommel horse, parallel bars, horizontal bar, and vault. When you have so many events it is very difficult to be good at all of them. My favorite event is vault, and my least favorite is beam. Beam is the most challenging for me because I am mostly afraid of falling and breaking a bone. All events in my mind are challenging. I really love artistic gymnastics because it requires so much from you all-around, that you really become an overall better person.

Rhythmic Gymnastics

Rhythmic gymnastics is sport where you must be graceful and flexible. There are four objects you must include in a choreographed dance. They are clubs, ribbon, ball, and hoop. This sport is just for girls. If you ever seen rhythmic gymnastics you know that this amazing sport requires hand eye coordination and so much grace. These gymnast make it seem so easy the way they glide through each move and make it seem as if the objects are just a continuation of their bodies. It seems very difficult to try and catch anything while focusing on pointed toes and tight legs. Along with artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics is featured in the Olympics. Training for rhythmic gymnastics must be so brutal. Such skill doesn’t come easy, but I feel at the end of the day it is worth it.

Acrobatic Gymnastics

You must be strong and synchronized to do acrobatic gymnastics. These gymnast must be strong to be able to lift and hold such strange positions. Acrobatic gymnastic is like an extreme version of cheerleading. In some of the position they hold it makes you cringe because it looks like it hurts so badly. In some positions they defy gravity. Acrobatic gymnastic is for both men and women. If you have ever seen he sport in action, you know how synchronized you have to be when doing this sport. It amazes me how someone can be bend and shape into hose positi6ons and still make it look supple

In conclusion, I hope you realize how strong, flexible, and graceful gymnast have to be. Never underestimate the skill and dedication that this sport requires.
